Munakata had been out on a walk after finishing a puzzle and some tea at her apartment, for once off-duty. It was actually a refreshing change from the normal busy time having to be at the office from dawn ‘til dusk. Blinking she turned the corner to see a rather startled red vanguard shying away from a dog. She winced just slightly as he ran into the pole; that had to have hurt.

The blunette raised an eyebrow at the chestnut-haired boy’s cursing but ended giving more of a startled look upon seeing a… was that a tail? Seeing his face turn close to the same shade as his aura, she tilted her head questioningly. “Are you quite alright?” she asked, becoming concerned. He was certainly not acting anything like himself, among other things.

“U-uh, y-yeah, I’m fine.” He stuttered, rubbing his head and keeping a safe distance between himself and the woman. He rubbed his forehead where it had connected with the metal, his tail flicking in response to his mortifica-

Shit, she could see the tail.

If it was possible, his cheeks burned darker. He swore under his breath, trying to hide the appendage behind himself, as though it was possible she had missed it.

“If you’re sure,” she relented, eyebrows furrowing as she frowned, still a bit concerned. He’d hit his head pretty badly. But, if he said he was alright then she’d take his word for it. The boy probably had a hard head anyways. Her eyes strayed down to the movement again, and she couldn’t help but stare at the tail at bit in curiosity.

Seeing his embarrassment, she tore her eyes away from the appendage he was trying to hide and raised an eyebrow in question.

Since she had just recently finished her work that needed immediate attention, the blunette had decided to take a walk around the grounds. It was a rather nice, if not a bit brisk, day out, so she was actually enjoying herself. As she turned the corner around one of the buildings, she stopped short in her walk. Munakata sighed a bit upon spotting the red loitering about. “Excuse me but why are you here?” she asked, approaching them. This was the last thing she really wanted to deal with on a day like this.

Anna gently strode through the Shizume city, her rose colored hues peered down at her legs as one past the other each time she stepped forward. Her thoughts were thrown away as she heard a voice. She stood still in her spot and watched as the unfamiliar person turned on their heel, and commenced a conversation with her. “Hello.”

image

“Good afternoon,” she replied immediately, almost as an automatic response. “May I ask why you’re so far from your home?” It wasn’t always safe for younger children to be wandering about the city alone. The last thing the blunette wanted was for the red clan to get riled up about this little one being missing for too long. “Are you perhaps lost?”

Wandering down the halls after delivering some files to the proper room for storage, the blunette was headed back to her office for some tea to relax a bit. Blinking she saw the younger girl sitting down alone and turned slightly to approach her. “Anna? What are you doing out here?” she asked, crouching just enough to put herself more at the other’s eye level.

image

Anna watched as the other crouched down enough to where she could see straight ahead. “There’s nothing to do.” The albino muttered, barely audible as she swung her feet back and forth, as if some sort of entertainment. “What are you doing here?” Normally, the other would be locked up inside her office until work was over. Seeing her out at this kind of time was rare, but she was pleased.

image

Looking the younger in the eye, the blunette had to listen closer to make sure she’d heard the other. So that’s why. “I see,” she said simply, thoughtfully. Munakata gave a slightly surprised look at the question before smiling gently. “I just finished the majority of my work and was delivering some files to the proper room,” she replied, “Since I have some free time now, would you like to do something?”

Was that… a bar? Talking? No wonder the guard was freaking out. At first she was concerned for his mental health, but then the she heard it speak and she just stared for a moment. She’d seen a lot of odd things, but this was definitely something. Dismissing the (rather grateful) guard with a wave her hand, she continued to give the bar a put-off stare.

“I see,” she replied slowly, “Aren’t you HOMRA’s bar?” She almost asked how it got here, but from its words, she gathered that it was taken by strains with teleportation abilities. She frowned at it, “How can you speak if you aren’t some sort of strain as well?” she countered, feeling rather silly for arguing with a bar, something that was supposed to be inanimate.

Well, at least it seemed she was taking this new development fairly well in all reality. Many people thought there was something truly wrong with them whenever it spoke the first time. But, she did still act as though she didn’t believe it, and suddenly, that stoicism let it know exactly who she was.

“Blue Queen…” it said softly, thinking now would be the time to use some of that politeness it had picked up from kind patrons at the bar. “I can speak because of a strain, but I’m not really one. The first thing I ever remember was someone saying such strange words…and then suddenly I could hear them and echo them back. I’ve also…turned human, but that was only for a week.”

Needless to say, Munakata was still trying to process this current situation. She just wasn’t sure what to do with this sort of thing, and frankly that annoyed her in its own right. Still… what to do?

She blinked, breaking out of her thoughts as it said her title. Oh? So it recognized her. The blunette recognized the slight change in tone from before as it began explaining. This bar was more polite than almost the entire red clan; she was impressed. Listening closely, she gave the bar a thoughtful expression. “I see,” she murmured, considering the facts. “Let me call the bar and inform your owner that you’re here,” she replied after a moment, “Though I’m unsure how they’ll get you back.” Pulling her cell phone out, she dialed the number she’d come to know for business reasons.

“I happen to need those puzzles,” she replied. Luckily she had more at home she could bring in, so she was calming down a bit. However, Munakata gave the box a fond look. She’d enjoy piecing this puzzle together. “I do appreciate this though.”

“Ya need them? What for?” There’s a reason to collect them other than to assemble them. She had never understood why it was so interessting for the bluette to sit around and stare at those…mind games, trying to put them together.

She chuckled a bit at the question. At first the blunette debated not answering the question to let the other figure it out, but she decided against it considering the other probably wouldn’t get it. “They’re calming,” she replied simply instead. The puzzles helped her figure things out easier as well, which was an added bonus.

Yata didn’t like being in this area of town. Just the proximity to Camelia gate made him a little uncomfortable. Too many Blues knocking around in the area. Still, he was on his way home now. Well, he had been, until the sudden sound of a dog barking made him turn in surprise. In the moment that he had been facing the wrong direction, his board veered slightly to the side and connected with a lamp post.

Cursing, Yata got to his feet. His tail lashed irritably, having fallen out from where the back of his shirt in the tumble. He looked up, placing his foot back on his board and found himself face to face with the Blue Queen. His cheeks turned red.

She stared quietly at the person who she had somehow managed to run into while out of the office. She blinked, frowning slightly. She’d taken the shortcut to the base through a small park, so this was the last place she’d expected to run into a red clansmen. Sighing she regarded the situation. Upon spotting each other, they’d been standing a few feet apart, and the blue queen had been regarding the other. Technically they weren’t quite in the blue domain yet, but they were close enough that she was wondering why the red was there. “What are you doing here?” she finally asked after a few more minutes of silence.

image

“Nothin, jus’ payin’ a visit to Munakata-han… Is that too bad, ne?”

His feet was a few steps away from the rival clan’s territory, but Izumo was never too tensed because of it. First, he knows people inside, second, he had no foolish intentions in mind. Being a logical man and all, he just knows when to cause mischief and when to avoid it—being face to face with the Blue Queen for sure falls into the second category.

“So, what’s goin’ on? ‘Ave been strollin’ nearby an’ I couldn’t help but sense trouble brewin’… Rogue strains?”

image

“…….” At first, all he got in return for that statement was a slightly disbelieving look. She stayed like that a few moments, evaluating the situation a bit before asking, “For what purpose?”

It wasn’t exactly as if she was wonderful friends with the bartender, the second of the clan that was considered rivals to her own, enough for him to actually have a reason to visit her. Also, it wasn’t as if the blue’s area was very close to the red’s so she was really beginning to question why the other was here. She raised her eyebrows at him though.

“There are always strains about in the city. Whether they are troublesome or not is our jurisdiction and decision. Why would a HOMRA member care about this?”

“Don’t play dumb, Suoh.” She’s judging him for asking those question but also is admittedly curious as to why he would ever ask something like that either.

image

“…You shouldn’t question my actions, Munakata.” Said, not that he is not playing dumb, just wanting to bother the girl, also he doesn’t like giving the reasons behind his actions after all.

image

“I can question them all I want if they concern me.” He should have expected her to throw this sort of logic back at him. She’s curious, though, so it’s not really surprising.
